2020 Annual General Meeting

The Lakes Community Association Annual General Meeting is set for Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00pm.

We are still seeking volunteers for our Board of Directors. Committed to continuing into 2020/21 are 2 of a potential 11 board positions as well our website coordinator. We have had a handful of people express interest but would welcome any new interest.

This Association is important as it gives The Lakes residents a stronger voice in front of our District’s Council. Moving into the new fiscal year, and approaching our AGM, we are looking for new board members to hand off our efforts, to continue the programs in place and/or create initiatives of your own.

If you think this is something you are interested in and would like an opportunity to give back to our community, please email your interest to The Lakes Community Association info@thelakescommunity.ca.

The commitment is typically minimal. Outside of the events and fundraisers above there is a monthly 1 hour board meeting. We had a great transition between the previous board members and ourselves and are looking forward to providing the same experience to new volunteers.

Please don't hesitate to email info@thelakescommunity.ca with an expression of your interest or any questions.

For the Zoom link please email info@thelakescommunity.ca.

Nominations

  • There is space for 8 additional directors, including a secretary, treasurer and vice-president.
  • We have had 3 individuals with strong interest and a handful of inquiries in addition to that. We are eagerly seeking volunteers to fill these positions as many hands make light work.
  • We would love to have you involved. It would allow the Association and the community continue to pursue endeavours that add to vibrance of The Lakes Community. As the new 2020/21 Board you have the ability to create your own priorities according to the group’s interest.
  • Your volunteer time would include one 1hr meeting 8-10 months of the year. Typically each director selected one of the 4 events they would lead and then delegated tasks to other board members and any other interested volunteers. In the week or two prior to an event there may be a handful of volunteer hours needed and then your time at the majority of events. Additional tasks or endeavours certainly depend on the direction of the board.
  • Secretary and treasurer positions usually involved another 1-2 volunteers hours per month.
  • Please contact info@thelakescommunity.ca if you have questions or are interested in being part of the light-hearted team.
